thousands of flowers installed in an abandoned mental asylum

This photoset speaks to me a lot personally. If you’ve never been institutionalized or otherwise similarly held, you can’t imagine how much outside starts to mean to you. I’ve spent over seven months total, and was once held for three weeks in a place where they didn’t even open the blinds for you. But if you crouched at just a certain angle, you could get a glimpse of blue sky and a hint of tree.

All the misery and the loneliness that these places see, all the desperate people who pass through the halls. Some will walk the same path every day for the rest of their lives, dozens of times a day, back and forth over tile and concrete, just wishing to feel grass between their toes.

This is beautiful.
